US Health Care Reform: The Emergence of Value Based Purchasing and Accountable Care Organizations

On March 23, 2010, the Affordable Care Act was signed by President Obama and health care reform in the U.S. became law.

The law is broad, complex, and will be phased in over an extended period of time. Over the last year, the various stakeholders have had a chance to review and analyze how the many components of health care reform may impact their business, customers, and employees. What is clear is that health care reform initiatives have already begun to put pressure on stakeholders to embrace a cost efficient health care system and at the same time reduce the number of uninsured Americans.
