Schelte Post

Consultant, Supply Chain Management, Norway

“Getting people enthusiastic about consulting by showing my own enthusiasm is both fun and rewarding.”

What is the most exciting project you have worked on at Capgemini Consulting?

I worked as advisor within a large project for ABN AMRO B.V., a large Dutch bank. I was partially responsible for implementing a new Internet Banking product. The implementation was very challenging because of time restraints and the product’s complexity. The fact that this bank was merging with another large bank (Fortis) resulted in a dynamic, quickly-changing environment, forcing us to work with a large number of stakeholders.

In what way do you feel you have contributed to the industries in which you have worked?

My contribution is knowledge and a broad perspective. As a consultant I often engage with multiple departments, specialties, and companies in order to get the "full picture". This helicopter view is encouraged and appreciated because it is essential to make the right judgments at the right time. It is about knowing the business processes within a company and sharing knowledge of how to optimize these processes.

Through your career at Capgemini Consulting what skills, experiences and primary areas of expertise have you gained?

My primary expertise is "Operational Excellence": capturing and evaluating the current ways of working within a company and showing tools and methods to optimize these ways. It's about reducing time and costs that can be defined as waste in order to realize and maintain a healthier workplace.

Apart from client projects, in what other ways have you contributed internally to develop Capgemini Consulting? How has this benefitted you?

I have worked a great deal for Capgemini Consulting’s recruitment department, both as a recruiter as a guide for new applicants while they are exploring consulting with Capgemini Consulting. During our "Xperience Days", I guide groups to motivate them and explain Capgemini Consulting and our profession. Getting people to be enthusiastic for consulting by showing my own enthusiasm is fun and extremely rewarding.

Why did you join Capgemini Consulting? From your personal standpoint, what makes Capgemini Consulting unique?

I joined Capgemini Consulting because I was looking for a flexible, "free" environment. The opportunity to do projects within a range of multinational organizations sounded interesting—and it is! Capgemini Consulting is unique in this way because it offers an informal environment with a large degree of freedom. You get to make your own decisions in work, style, and area of expertise. Capgemini Consulting offers high quality service, but in the end you’re the one who decides how quality is achieved.

What do you do in your spare time?

I'm a big fan of high-competition gaming, and I watch a lot of movies and TV series. I also love the outdoors; I do a bit of snowboarding and wakeboarding, and I like jogging in the forest near my house.
